Skin care for Acne

Acne also known as pimples is a disease that affects the oil glands of the skin. There are very small openings on your skin  which cannot be seen with the natural eyes that connect to oil glands under the skin. These glands make an oily substance called sebum. The pores connect to the glands by a canal called a follicle. Inside the follicles, oil carries dead skin cells to the surface of the skin. A thin hair also grows through the follicle and out to the skin. When the follicle of a skin gland clogs up, a pimple grows.

There are many types of pimples, the most common types are:

• Whiteheads. These are pimples that stay under the surface of the skin.

• Blackheads. These pimples rise to the skin's surface and look black. The

black color is not from dirt.

• Papules. These are small pink bumps that can be tender.

• Pustules. These pimples are red at the bottom and have pus on top.

• Nodules. These are large, painful, solid pimples that are deep in the skin.

• Cysts. These deep, painful, pus-filled pimples can cause scars.

Surprisingly there are foods which you eat that can cause acne. Though you are not discouraged from eating such foods but a balanced diet helps keep the disease level down. These foods include

Dairy
Milk contains many biological products apart from protein and nutrients which can cause increased sebum production, an oily substance that can clog pores. Although it’s not everybody that reacts by producing sebum when milk is consumed but some do even with just one cup. If you experience such try almond milk.

Carbohydrates
white bread, sugar, white pasta and baked goods which are examples of simple carbohydrates are converted into sugar quickly in the body when digested cause acne easily than complex carbohydrates, which take longer to digest. These foods may cause acne because they increase blood sugar levels, which triggers an inflammatory response in the body. However eating healthy carbohydrates is better for reducing acne than eating refined carbohydrates.

Other things that can cause acne in the body include:

Stress
For some stress can cause an outbreak while for others it doesn’t cause it but worsens it, this may be due to may be due to increased hormone production and impaired immunity. most studies have associated acne and skin issues with that correlated to high stress-levels. So be sure to manage stress so that you can decrease your prone-ness to breakouts and skin blemishes and also that of fine lines and wrinkles.

Poor hygiene:
Once pimples breakouts occur and the sebum pushes toward the surface of the skin, carrying cells with it. These cells tend to clump together, which means that instead of washing out of the pore in your skin, they clog it. Bacteria heads for the clogged pore, and that's where your pimple forms. That doesn’t mean you should wash your face too much, it could irritate the skin a couple number of times with a mild cleanser will do.

Too much exposure to sun
sun exposure may increase your skin’s oil production, which clogs your pores. That dosent mean that you should leave your home on the beach, but choose your sunscreen wisely. Also choose spray-on sunscreen, which is dissolves in alcohol instead of plant oils like palm oil. The alcohol will evaporate and only the protection is left behind.
